Growing up, people constantly question you. “What do you want to be when you grow up?”
My answer changed often. I built a good list.
President. I wanted to be the first female president in 5th grade, then I lost Student Council elections and quickly lost my drive in politics.
Marine Biologist. That one lasted longer than some, but Lubbock doesn’t have water. No water, no marine life.
Wife. April 16, 2011 was the day I accepted this job. Dream come true. I married Nathan on this day, and I have enjoyed every day with him since.
Teacher. I was able to teach in Lubbock for 4 years. I loved it, but I knew I needed more time at home because of my next job…
Mom. Thankfully, this one has come to fruition. I have two adorable boys – Augie and Walker. This might be my favorite job. Don’t tell my brides! 🙂
To be honest, Wedding Coordinator was never on my “What I want to be when I grow up” list.
So how did I get here?
After becoming a mom, I wanted a more part-time career. I called Misty’s mom, Laurie. Laurie holds a special place in my heart. She was a mentor for me through a program at our church called Apples of Gold. I loved learning from Laurie about hospitality and loving on your husband and family. She is a woman that I admire and want to be like in everyday life. She reminds me a lot of my mom, and I love that about her too. During our chat, I asked her about the new venue they opened and if they needed any extra help. To my surprise, she said yes! I met with Misty the next week and started work at Eberley Brooks Events in October 2016.
It was a perfect fit. I have loved every workday since.
Eberley Brooks Events is a gift to me. I enjoy helping brides create their “perfect” days, getting to know them personally, and helping them navigate this fun time in their lives. It can be stressful at times, but the stress is worth it. Hearing the bride and groom say their vows and watching their first dance is extremely rewarding. My prayer is that I help each couple enjoy the first day of their forever.
I’m excited about my future with Eberley Brooks Events, and I’m ready to help you coordinate your wedding – Ain’t no party like an EBE party!
