Jenna Athanasiou – Makeup Artist

I was blessed to meet Jenna at Lubbock Christian University.  We pledged the same social club as freshman, and we were Faith in Action together. A fun drama group that traveled and performed shows for youth ministries at different churches.

Enjoy this fun picture of us as sophomores in college.  We were dressed up for Master Follies at LCU.

We had lots of fun together!  Jenna actually met her husband, Kevin, in Faith in Action.  Good times.  Those were good times.

I am proud to get to introduce Jenna Athanasiou Makeup Artist to y’all!  Book her for all your beauty needs!

How did you get started with makeup?

Kind of accidentally. I have always loved makeup and doing my friends makeup was always something I enjoyed. When one friend of mine asked me to do her makeup for her wedding, I was thrilled. I was also nervous. She loved it. I then had more and more friends asking me to do makeup for weddings, proms or other special events. I decided to create my own business page on Facebook and it took off from there.

Jenna’s first bride to help with makeup for her wedding day.

Why did you choose this line of work?

As I mentioned, it wasn’t really something I ever intended to do as “work”, it was always just my fun hobby. How cool that a hobby turned into a side hustle and job?

What is your favorite thing about helping people with makeup?

That someone chose me to help them on a really important day in their life. Whether it’s a wedding or graduation pictures, I get to be a small part of it. It’s just a huge blessing to me.

What sets you apart from other makeup artists?

My background is in theatre. I think that really helps you understand the face in a different way.

What is something interesting about yourself that many people don’t know about you?

This has absolutely nothing to do with makeup, but my dream pet is a skunk. I honestly cannot think of anything else.

What do you like to do in your free time?

If I have any, I am a real bookworm. I taught theatre and reading, and when I get the chance to read, I take it.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

Europe. Everything there is a train ride a way. Want to visit a different country in a day? You can! I think that’s so neat, especially considering it takes 10+ hours to get across Texas. Also, it’s beautiful and rich in history.

Favorite drink?

Sweet Tea

Favorite Restaurant?

As a lover of food, this is the hardest question you have asked so far.

Favorite type of music?

Show tunes or 90’s-2000’s pop. Something I can perform to in the car.

Favorite Holiday?

Halloween. A holiday where I get to dress up, and pretend to be someone else… a theatre lover’s dream.

Anything else you would like Eberley Brooks blog readers to know about you?

I’ve been married for almost nine years, and I’m the mother of a sassy and smart 1.5 year-old (thus the lack of a lot of spare time).

Jenna, I’m so glad you are a Preferred Vendor for Eberley Brooks Events.  I hope to work with you a lot in the future!  Thanks for answering all of my questions.

Cubs Win,

Kaitlin
